Mates On Bikes was formed to provide guided rides for both pillions and riders of the many and varied roads in Victoria and in particular the roads around Geelong, where we are based. We are also in close proximity to the “Great Ocean Road” a favourite tourist destination, with its many spectacular views.
What sets us apart from other motorcycle tours is that we use sports touring motorcycles, CBR1100XX Super Blackbirds, which offer that extra zing to your riding experience. Our vast riding experience, about 60 years in total, ensures we can safely guide you on an experience of a lifetime. Your trip is captured on video so at the end you have a memento of your ride to share with friends or just for your self-indulgence.
Imagine riding the Great Ocean Road (“GO Road”) along the coastline visiting historic sites like the 12 Apostles and seeing some Aussie icons like kangaroos in the wild along the way.
For those who don’t ride we offer pillion rides where you are kept in contact with the rider via an intercom so as to keep you informed of what to expect while riding.
With our experience in riding in our backyard (Victoria) we know the roads that, due to the many highways now in use, are no longer tormented by cars, trucks and the like so we can show you the real motorcycle haven that is here in Victoria.
Our daily trips offer you experiences like viewing kangaroos in their natural environment (not in a zoo!) or insight into some real Aussie folklore like the infamous Ned Kelly and his gang by visiting many of his haunts on our 3 day Ned Kelly tour.
Because we are based in Geelong, only 70km from Melbourne, if you are hiring or bringing your own motorcycle it is not hard to hook up with Mates On Bikes who can show you some great rides and tourist spots.
We have a genuine concern for fellow motorcyclists visiting our area and in particular our international visitors. We realise how easy it would be to forget which side of the road you should be on when carving up the corners because we ride on the opposite side to many other countries. That’s one of the reasons for our sport touring bikes - we can set a safe pace where you can follow us, knowing that you are in safe hands at all times.
We operate out of a well-established motorcycle dealer in Geelong called “Mototech”, a local Kawasaki & KTM agent who have a full workshop and excellent mechanics employed. So our bikes are always in good shape and they can help out if your bike gets into trouble too.
Our reason or ‘passion’ if you like is that there is nothing like riding a bike. The smells, the views and the freedom is what truly excites us. To be able to share and show these experiences with fellow bikers or pillion passengers is what we are all about. So it doesn’t matter if you ride a cruiser or a sporty or don’t ride at all we can show you a great time.
L platers and P platers can be lead on real roads in real life situations and talk about what to expect in the real world. What dangers exist and how to prepare and avoid accidents. Using our onboard cameras we can film you as you ride and together we can get you riding with more confidence, quicker and safer than you ever imagined.
Our motto is "It's all about the ride" and that's exactly what we're all about - sharing some of that excitement with fellow enthusiasts in the spectacular surroundings and roads in our part of the world.
